Gerald Mitchell Is In The House With Never Had It So Good Sports Radio

New Sports Podcasts with NeverHadItSoGoodSportsRadio on BlogTalkRadio

Bradley Dewberry Changes His Commitment to Eastern Illinois University...."It's A Struggle but the Grind Must Continue".

There's a lot to be said for the recruiting process. But, it's awesome to see young men get it right and feel good about their commitment. Even, if they have to
de-commit from one school and commit to another. In the end it's about feeling you got it right for yourself.

That is exactly what happen in the case of Bradley Dewberry, Eagles Landing High School Sr. and a future Eastern Illinois Panther.

This 6'0 186 QB/S that plays both ways obviously had some options

He was committed to Western Carolina University but, changed his mind. And, he did just that last night, (Wednesday January 28).

He prayed about it, talked it over with his family, and then made the announcement he'd committed to Eastern Illinois University.

I talked to Bradley this morning and needless to say he was well with his decision. "I felt like the campus was where I wanted to be. And, I really liked being with my future teammates and how they kept it 100 with me," he said.

Young man let me say, "Congratulations on making the first of many big life decisions."

Bradley said he didn't get to this point where he has options in life without some help. He points out Coach kelvin White and Coach Andre Wise with TygtalConsulting.com had a lot do with his maturation process. He said, "Coach White has always been there for me. He was my coach for awhile and I feel I can call him anytime I want. He is good to bounce things off of."

In addition, he said, "Coach Wise is the one that put me on the map. He sent my film out to everyone and made sure to tell all the colleges coaches about me. I owe him a lot too."

With these type of people in his life, you can see why he had the confidence to de-commit and find the best place for him.

He added, "It showed me a lot when I visited Eastern Illinois on my recruiting weekend last Friday, and then they showed up at my house on Monday. The Head Coach, Kim Dameron and my Position Coach, Mike Truxillo came. That meant a lot too."

So, he thought about it....prayed about it....and then made that decision with his parents Pam and Jerrold Dewberry. They are without a doubt a positive force in this young mans life also.

It is also significant to note Western Carolina University was recruiting him at QB first. And, Eastern Illinois University sees him as a Safety first with the chance to participate in some Wildcat Packages at the QB position.

After considering everything, the result is what we saw on Facebook Tuesday evening.

The result is what you see in this exclusive photo. A Prep Athlete that can be proud of what's before him.

Good luck Bradley. As I said to you earlier. "It's awesome thing when you get a scholarship offer to pay for school and play for a chance at the next level." Enjoy it! And, come away with the best film for a Safety--the best film for QB in the Wildcat Package--and a Diploma in hand.

Go Panthers!!!

Facebook Chat.....Should The NFL Get Rid Of PATs?

NFL IS CONSIDERING ELIMINATING THE EXTRA POINT! WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? Gerald T MitchellLevi J. JohnsonBenjamin BlockerWillie Williams,Bart ShanksKeith A ChisolmPastor Johnny Ray Noble, Ph.D., Pastor Kevin Donalson, and Corey Alexander

Earlier this month, Belichick said he thought extra points were boring because of how automatic they’ve become and there’s enough agreement with him that the league will explore dropping extra points this offseason.

That was the word from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who told Rich Eisen of NFL Network that the league is examining proposals for abolishing the extra point for pretty much the reason that Belichick cited. Goodell outlined one of the proposed changes.

“The extra point is almost automatic,” Goodell said. “I believe we had five missed extra points this year out of 1,200 some odd (1,256-for-1,261, to be precise). So it’s a very small fraction of the play, and you want to add excitement with every play. There’s one proposal in particular that I’ve heard about. It’s automatic that you get seven points when you score a touchdown, but you could potentially go for an eighth point, either by running or passing the ball, so if you fail, you go back to six.”

That would certainly eliminate the boredom of an extra point try without fundamentally changing too much about the decision that coaches already make about when to try for a two-point conversion. There will certainly be some pushback to altering a play that’s always been part of the game, but anything that would speed up the process of getting back to actual football is worth considering.

Corey Alexander Extra points have been the difference in countless games. If removed it would only take away from the game even more if you ask me.

Maurice Freeman Move the extra point back to 30 yards.

Willie Williams Leave the game alone! They've been kicking extra points before I was born. Why eliminate the extra point? That the question to ask the commissioner...

Princess Cooper Mr. Willie Williams....he has indicated he thinks the extra point is boring. There were 1200 extra points in the NFL this season so far....and there have been only five misses. I know you all know I have never played football before....so I am asking the experts. I appreciate the responses. It helps me provide great information on my show.

Willie Williams It's boring, that's his answer? Wow....so what does that do for the kickers, take away their goals of breaking records, eliminating extra points from their stats. Need to ask a kicker how he feels about it.

Willie Williams Sorry for not reading the complete story Princess Cooper

Gerald T Mitchell For me its not so much as the exta point in itself but the personnel required. As a player and fan of the game, I've seen countless games lost after myself, teammates, other great athletes who practice, fight with blood sweat n tears to the end, only to have some guy, who never does any drills, no contact, no meetings, nothing, when everybody in the summer is throwing up, fight fatigue and injuries, you look over, this guy is playing hacky sack, or joking with the ball boy, one second left in the game, here comes the kicker!!!! Ask Fla. ST, Bobby Bowden how he feels, wide right, wide left!!! Sonfor me, I urge people to find athletic punyers and kickers, ask Nick Saban damn kickers!!!! (:

Maurice Freeman The would you go for two each time with your best athletes? No the percentage is very low.

Princess Cooper Lol!! Talk Gerald T Mitchell!!!!

Gerald T Mitchell Can't you just see the emotion I put into that? (: I mean, I don't mean to come off like its not necessary, rules are rules, that's part if the game, but man, I see it so much, there's a school here, St.Augustine, where Leonard Fournette attends, where Tyrann Mathieu went, numerous NFL guys, Avery Johnson, etc... so much talent every year, haven't won a state championship since 1979 but there rowards the end every year, you know why they lose evey year? Can't kick a damn extra point or FG. Have to go for two every time, horrible!!! At least have a real athlete as your punter, you play 11 against 9 with k's and holders. Useless, and they're on schoalarship, maaaan!

Reginald Jenkins Princess Cooper I think it shouldn't be eliminated. If anything make the attempt from a distance farther back. If u gonna eliminate a position and put folks out of work eliminate the QB. U cant touch them anyway and they make the most money on a team easily !! I dont even see why QBs wear pads and helmets at all. It dont make sense how they get treated compared to other positions. The NFL is gonna make too many stupid changes until they completely mess the game up.

Princess Cooper I love you guys....great stuff. Get rid of the QB! Gonna have you elaborate on the show on Friday! Love it...

Princess Cooper Gerald T Mitchell your one on one podcast with me is next Wednesday. I will send an agenda. Please mark your calendar for 5pm. And, then of course you are on for the National Signing Day Show. I appreciate you to the fullest.

Gerald T Mitchell No, I would only recruit and train athletes that are athletically inclined. Again, as a recruiter, they are out there. I have an accomplished Qb, K, P, right now that's unsinged, now of course, its jard to find one that can nail a fifty yard fg in the...See More

Gerald T Mitchell Ok, thanks Princess, TTYS!!

Reginald Jenkins Princess Cooper no problem. They make the most and eat up the salary cap and if u get close to them a flag is already thrown. Please give me a QB from the old days when every QB was a real baller !!

Princess Cooper Now, I agree with you there Gerald T Mitchell. Recruit some skill!

Great Facebook Discussion On Richard Sherman

Mica Wright There were some good points in the article, but get out of here.. he looked into the camera the whole time so it was obvious he has communications skills? People on Maury stare directly into the camera.

Terreta Terri Scope-Rodgers Why is he making excuses for bad behavior. Sherman has a history of cutting a fool. Flashback to the end if the Redskins playoff game last year. I really try to like the guy because he is an excellent player and his offseason man-on-the-street inter...See More

Kevin Donalson What was the big mistake? What was it that he said that was so bad? He never cursed. He never threatened anybody. What was it?

Terreta Terri Scope-Rodgers Football is a team sport. How about lauding the accomplishments of your team, celebrating the fact that you are going to the Super Bowl and exhibiting sportsmanship. We ask kids in little league to show sportsmanship but now grown men who are paid t...See More

Kevin Donalson I ask again what did he say. LOB is the team. He shouted out his team.

Kevin Donalson All week long the media made the first game Peyton vs. Tom not the Broncos vs. Patriots so while its a team sport its played by individuals

Kevin Donalson All week long Crabtree called him overrated and not that good. He then talked trash all game long. Why wouldn't Sherman respond?

Virgil Lee Waytes Jr. "I am the best t-shirt maker, in the game..." #ShamelessPlug LOL
Mica Wright Despite his intentions, in that short period of time.. "book smarts" or not.. he came across as an angry aggressive ignorant black man standing next to a white woman and expressing those passionate feelings off the field and on tv is just not allowed.. unless of course you are on Maury. Surely he read that in one of his communication 101 books.

Kevin Donalson So that's what it was. He scared the white woman. Smh

Mica Wright Would we even be talking about this if "sister girl" interviewed him?

Kevin Donalson You have proven my point. This was not a big deal until Erin Andrews acted like she was standing next to Fleece Johnson.

Princess Cooper Great comments everyone. I must admit I didn't think it was cool while I watched it but, I realize he was in the moment. Erin Andrews just didn't know how to handle it. I don't know if I would either. But, I think I would have tried to steer him into t...See More

Corey M. Smith I loved the interview and Sherman's raw emotions. Football is violent...period and it takes a certain amount of hype and emotion to play the game at the highest levels. Manning and Brady don't level hits on others or run up and down the field and while...See More

Princess Cooper I completely agree. It was high mindedness. It was a great play. He not only kept Crabtree from catching it but he tipped it to another teammate. Game over! But, did Kaepernick have to go for all so quickly? There was still time to take another sideline shot.

Princess Cooper Corey M. Smith if you don't mind I will use your comment on the show this evening...

Corey M. Smith No problem.

Robert Carter The Richard Sherman interview was a rare opportunity to see inside the mindset of top level athletes. What we saw was a sideline reporter who missed an opportunity to show us the mentality it takes to play it that level. There was nothing wrong with what Sherman said it's just where he said it. The comments that he made are said in locker rooms and on benches to coaches and teammates everyday. You hear things like that punk can't guard me or the boy is scared he doesn't want any of me. In sports you must have the mindset that Sherman displayed to compete or you will go home. It was a shame that Erin Andrews was caught off guard and couldn't get Sherman to explain his comments about Crabtree. If she had I think Sherman would not have took so much heat for his comments.

Princess Cooper I agree Mr Carter. I think the travesty here is Erin Andrews and her missed opportunity to harness his thoughts and raw emotions. And, get him to talk further about what it feels like to have your season and hard work culminate in the Super Bowl.

Florida MBB Climbs to #7 In Latest Poll

Arizona and Syracuse remain No. 1 and 2 in The Associated Press college basketball poll for a sixth straight week, but wholesale changes took place after that as six newcomers joined the Top 25 on Monday.
The Wildcats (17-0) received 61 first-place votes Monday from the 65-member national media panel while the Orange (16-0) got the others.
Syracuse, which is seeking its third 17-0 start in four seasons, visits Boston College on Monday night.
After 11 ranked teams lost at least one game, the changes started at No. 3 where Wisconsinmoved up one spot to replace Ohio State, which lost two games and dropped to 11th.
Michigan State was fourth, and Wichita State, Villanova, Florida, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and San Diego State rounded out the top 10.

ESPN Writer Andy Katz Impressed With Gator MBB

Which team impressed you the most over the weekend?

Katz: Florida. The Gators won in what traditionally has been a rough spot for them at Bud Walton Arena and they did so without their leading scorer, Casey Prather. Florida's Scottie Wilbekin made key plays late in the game to force overtime and in that period the Gators proved to be even more of an experienced, disciplined unit. This win will go a long way toward helping Florida prepare for a March win.

Brennan: Creighton. Not only did Doug McDermott show zero ill signs of the sprained shoulder he suffered last week, but his 35 points on 24 shots -- and the Bluejays' ability to outpace a hot Xavier team that got 27 on the road from Semaj Christon -- speaks volumes about their ability to withstand the loss of guard Grant Gibbs over the next month and change.

Brown: Iowa. The Hawkeyes finally stopped the narrative that they lose close games -- especially on the road -- by winning at Ohio State. Maybe folks can stop focusing on Fran McCaffery's meltdown against Wisconsin and focus on their team again.
